Express Air Systems (Easy), one of the leading providers of express air freight and a joint venture of DB Schenker and Kühne & Nagel, was recognised as Europe's largest and cross-industry digitisation initiative DIGITAL X as a digital pioneer in the SME sector. The Digital Champions Award (DCA), an award by the WirtschaftsWoche in cooperation with Telekom, is awarded annually to projects in medium-sized companies. Easy was able to impress the jury in the category "digital transformation in medium enterprises" for the Midwest region.
The logistics company was awarded for its online search engine and booking platform for express airfreight: the Easy portal provides a comparison of express airfreight conditions and transit times of 27 airlines at a glance. Recently, customers can also make bookings directly via the portal. "The platform is a seamless, digital process," explains Managing Director Frederik Luz. "With just a few clicks, the customer receives the information to make a transparent and fast decision, and can then immediately place his freight booking. This means a great reduction in the work for our customer and a huge simplification and acceleration of the entire air freight handling process. For Easy, it's a substantial change to the business model - a true digital transformation, summarises Luz.
Easy has also developed an efficient solution for individual air freight shipments such as high tonnage, short delivery times, dangerous goods, etc. An individual request made via the portal is standardised and automatically passed on to the eligible airlines. The airlines provide a standardised quotation, which can be booked directly by the customer. Time-consuming inquiries to various airlines is a thing of the past. The airlines also benefit immensely from this simplification.
