MULTIVAC presents marking and inspection solutions for all food industry requirements

At Anuga FoodTec 2018, MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection will present its comprehensive portfolio of line-capable marking solutions and inspection systems for the food industry.

One of the latest innovations, that will be on display at the trade fair, is the new generation of direct web printers.

The DP 230 direct web printer, which is designed for use on thermoforming packaging machines, consists of a printer and a propulsion unit with x-axis and y-axis, which enables the printer to move in both directions and thus printing both lengthwise and crosswise to the packaging film transport direction. The system is specially designed for the particular machine model and therefore forms a single unit with the thermoforming packaging machine in its design and controls. It is installed in a space-saving position over the sealing station. A complete stainless steel perforated plate housing ensures maximum safety and ease of cleaning and the new servo drive technology provides the highest level of accuracy and maximum speeds. The DP 230 will be on display at the trade fair as part of an automated packaging solution for the manufacturing of shaped packs.

An additional trade fair highlight is the presentation of a comprehensive portfolio of conveyor belt labellers. With the L 310, the marking specialist will demonstrate a model with a modular design for higher outputs and more complex labelling, printing and inspection requirements for a wide range of packs such as trays, boxes, pots and thermoformed packs. At the trade fair, a model from this series will be integrated in a T 800 traysealer line for D labelling. In this process a label is attached to the top side, over both sides and finally onto the bottom side of the skin pack.

Especially for the labelling of packs of sliced goods, the L 330 will be on display as part of a fully-integrated slicer line at AFT. The L 330 is designed in the IP 69K protection class and meets even the highest hygiene requirements in food processing companies. The packs are transported by toothed belt guides at the sides, so that they are easily accessible for visual inspection.

In the area of inspection solutions, the BASELINE I 100 X-ray inspection system, a I 211 checkweigher as well as the I 410 for visual inspection tasks will be presented at the trade fair. The cost-effective entry-level model, the I 100, reliably detects foreign bodies made out of metal, glass, bone, stone, ceramic and thick plastic, and it can also be used for checking the completeness or fill level of packs, as well as for checking the integrity of products.

The I 211 checkweigher with integrated metal detector enables precise weight checks as well as reliable recognition of metallic foreign bodies. The detector coil used works with multi-simultaneous frequency and thus offers increased sensitivity as well as improved product compensation.

The areas of application of the I 410 range from completeness checks on the packs, through to presence and position inspection of the labels, and right up to checking the print - and this includes pattern and character recognition, character verification and inspection of legibility and codes. Thanks to the high-resolution line scanner and powerful image processing for both top and bottom scanning, it performs highly reliable inspection of pack quality and labelling.
