The TERGO URS turret truck from UniCarriers has won the coveted International Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) award in the category of “storage technology equipment”.
As such, the hybrid of narrow-aisle and reach truck outshone all four rivals on the starting line in the same category. The award was presented on 5th May at the BMW museum in Munich, on the edge of the CeMAT@transport logistics trade fair.
“The award proves that, within a short time, UniCarriers has established itself as a major supplier on the European market for industrial trucks. Our forklifts achieved excellent performance values in the IFOY tests, which demonstrate: we are playing in the same league as the market leaders”, Thomas Wiklund, COO of UniCarriers Europe, comments on the prize. The company has experienced victory right from its first participation in the IFOY Award. The prize was awarded this year for the third time.
In the TERGO URS, the 22 members of the specialist jury distinguished a reach truck with swivel reach forks for use in narrow aisles. The equipment proved itself in extensive tests, in which all nominated forklifts were assessed according to various criteria such as innovation value, technology, design, ergonomics, safety and sustainability. In its test rating, the jury particularly praised the pioneering ergonomic concept and easy manoeuvrability of the TERGO URS. The forklift has the smallest turning circle in its vehicle class and offers the user a comfortable workplace with optimal all-round visibility. Furthermore, compared with the predecessor model, it features increased productivity: because the forks can be raised when travelling, the cycle times are reduced by around 17 percent. The jury was also convinced by the option to use the equipment both with induction guidance and in free range mode.
